February 2017 Zonotes

from Jon Jones, Zone 5 Representative…

Here it is February already and Zone 5 is off to a busy start.  Three of our Regions are celebrating anniversaries this year and members are busy planning activities to commemorate these milestones. Warbonnet Region celebrates their 50th anniversary in 2017, and they are getting geared up for that.  50 years is a pretty big deal since PCA itself is only turning 62 this year.  Ozark Region celebrates 40 years, and they are working on an event in April to mark the anniversary.  Cimarron Region recognizes 30 years this year, and the Region leadership is hard at work designing special logos and planning events all year to celebrate.  We’ll post updates whenever we get them on the Zone 5 webpage and the Zone 5 Facebook page.  You can also watch the individual Region’s website or Facebook pages for information.  And if I’ve missed a milestone in your region, please let me know so I can help get the word out.

Looking at the Zone 5 calendar (zone5.pca.org), Maverick Region has a DE scheduled for February 25-26 at Motorsports Ranch in Cresson, TX.  Driver’s Education is a great way to learn about your Porsche and improve your driving skills.  Check out Maverick Region’s website at mav.pca.org for more information.

Three of our regions, Hill Country, Lone Star and Maverick, are hosting a PCA Club Race on March 3-5 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA).  If you have not had a chance to attend a PCA Club Race, we have a bunch in Zone 5 this year.  Club Racing is a great way to experience Porsches at their finest – on the track.  Club Racing has a class for every Porsche, from the top-of-the-line Porsche Cup cars to the cost effective 944.  The racing is close, fast, and very exciting.  The first event at COTA is also a great opportunity to visit this world-class facility without all the clamor and hubbub of an F1 weekend.  A truly great facility.  For more information, check out the Zone 5 Facebook page or the individual Region websites

On March 18th, Cimarron Region is putting on their first ever The Rides of March DE event at Hallett.  This is an instructed DE event so novice drivers are welcome to attend.  Check out cimarronregionpca.org for the full rundown.

Remember, PCA uses clubregistration.net for all track events.  The PCA link is register.pca.org.

Finally for March, Treffen Hill Country is coming up fast on March 29-April 2.  Hopefully you have registered for this exciting event – by the time you read this it may be too late.  But check out the Treffen Hill Country website at treffen.PCA.org.

This is just a small sample of the Zone 5 events coming up.  Each region has dinners, drives and other fun times for all of you, the members of PCA.  Get out there and enjoy your friends and your Porsche!
